The forums were cool. I don’t understand why the purveyors of this site created them only to shit all over them. And yes, I understand that it was different parties at work.
Speaking of forums…..do you post at Chud, Rusty? The reason I ask is because you’ve quoted a few articles from there, and I recently signed up for their boards. Just curious…
Actually Polygon, believe it or not. I registered chud a long time ago and they declined my membership.
Make of that what you will.
I good friend of mine used to post there. It’s a pretty tight nit crew and they can be merciless so watch yourself.
Personally, seeing the way devin behaves there sometimes I think I may be better off. That’s actually a big reason I haven’t registered since.
That said they have a really smart community over there … and an awesome podcast! If they still have it on their feed, and I think they do, download episode 5(? maybe 6) their notorious interview with acting sensation Ted Levine.
I think they are pretty strict on accepting new users there. I got rejected a couple times, but I chalked it up to using a Yahoo-based email account. After that, I re-registered and sent them an email with my information, and I was approved pretty quickly.
I should be fine over there. I’ve lurked on the boards a bit, so I have an idea of how some of the big personalities act. I’ll probably spend most of my time in the video game section which seems to be a little bit calmer than the general sections of their boards.
I would love to see more use out of the forums. I’m going to actually try to do a bit more work to the site soon to see if I can’t get some focus back on them. There for a while, we had a site notification section to tell you what the most recently discussed topics were. However, there was some sort of issue with that widget, as the site kept getting taken down for exceeding CPU usage whenever that was on. So I took it down to wait for them to fix it. Surely it’s been improved by now.
well, you should probably make sure everyone behind the site is on the same page.
Speaking of chud, they’ve found a good balance between front page hits and a healthy forum community.
I posted in the forums here just today! And I even did it before this article went up. :)
and what are the big films being presented at San Diego this year? I don’t even know.
Didn’t you just acknowledge the existence of the forums the very moment you wrote that sentence?
Anyway, I’m not really all that sure about what is supposed to be at the show, so I guess that I’ll be surprised by something. I kind of doubt that they will show very much of Avatar, and I really hope that they don’t. I think it would be awesome if it could stay mysterious up until it is released.
Not sure what I am more excited about: TV panels or comics panels or the artist alley. This is potentially the last year I would realistically be able to go so I’m giving it a shot.
Okay, okay; RUSTY JAMES. Was your voicemail used on the latest episode of/Filmcast? Becuase I swear he sounded just like you
nope. Don’t listen to that one.
are you talking about the guy who calls up to talk about pop corn?
Oh ok. But yeah, this year I’m really excited to see Avatar footage, as well as the Final Lost Panel
