Sunday, May 10th, 2009
Episode 100 of Two Geeks a Mic and a Podcast is going to be a LIVE call-in show. Find out when it’s happening, and how you can join in!
Hey Geeks. Scott here.
As most of you probably know by now, the 100th episode of Two Geeks a Mic and a Podcast is going to be Ben and I’s swan song. We’re leaving the show, and we couldn’t think of a better way to go out than with all of you to be around to see it. We’re going to talk about it in detail in episode 99 (to be released on Tuesday), but I wanted to take the time to make a formal announcement on the site.
Two Geeks Episode 100 will be recorded LIVE on Sunday, May 17th at 7pm EST.
We will be doing the show via TalkShoe. For those of you familar with how GeekiNtertainment did their series of GeekiNput episodes, this should be a breeze. For those of you not, here’s the rundown: (Most of this is stolen from Randy’s original article on the subject because, hey, if it ain’t broke…)
Go to Talkshoe and register an account. If you plan to call in using a telephone, then make sure your pin number matches your phone number. That way, the system automatically links you to your username. After registering, go to the page for Two Geeks Episode 100. Make note of the show dates and times. Click “Follow This” to receive reminders prior to the show going on air.
30 minutes before a show goes on air, visit the GeekiNput site to join the chat room. If you download Talkshoe Live! version of the software, it has a VOIP program for connecting to the show (Assuming you have a Microphone and headeset) built in. If you don’t download the Live! version (Which is free, BTW) then you can still connect to the chat room by clicking on the non-download version.
When the show goes on air, you can listen to it by streaming the audio in the Talkshoe chat window. In order to participate with the show, you will need to “dial in”. Using a telephone is the easiest method to do this. Simply dial ![]()

and enter 49988 as the Call ID#. Then if it asks, enter the pin number you registered with (If you are calling from the phone number you used as your pin number, you should not have to enter anything here).
The show is moderated, so you will have to wait your turn to talk. Help us speed the process up by pressing the “request to talk” button when you have something you want to say. That can be found in the chat window.
So there you go, it’s really not as complicated as it might sound. Promise.
Now, what will we be talking about? Well, that’s where you guys come in. If you remember waaaaaaaay back to December of 2006, we were celebrating our first year as a podcast, and we asked you to all submit questions for us (geek related or otherwise) to answer on the show. Well, we’re asking for questions again, only this time, you’ll be asking us the questions directly. So come to the show fully loaded. We’ll also want you to recount how you started listening to us, and how long its been.
On top of that, we’ll also be doing a very special If We Ran Hollywood that we want you all to participate in: Two Geeks a Mic and a Podcast THE MOVIE! We want you to cast it, give it a plot, and pitch us your idea LIVE on the show. The winner (as judged by us on the show) will be given a special prize pack of various goodies courtesy of InStockTrades.
So, come join us as we celebrate our FINAL EPISODE! We hope to see you all there!

woot woot for the call in
:( I work Sunday nights…
Oh well, I look forward to hearing everyone else. :)
it’s gonna cost me a lot of money to do this…
mmm would that be at about 10am Monday morning Sydney Australia time??
Awww i’ll be working. PLEASE DONT LEAVE THE SHOW *cries*
I’ll be driving across country on my way back home on Sunday night. Can I call in from the road? The only problems I foresee is not knowing where the conversation has been and not being able to push the “request to talk” button.
If they come on when they say they are coming on, you could just call in at that time. I’m not sure if you can listen to the conversation from the phone, as I’ve never been a caller. However, there is still a way to request to talk if I’m not mistaken. Though I’m not sure what it is off the top of my head.
If I remember correctly from your live shows, you can listen over the phone. If there is a way to just call in, and then request to talk, that would be cool. I wonder if my username will show up or if I’d just be an anonymous caller.
- Request to Talk via phone only; this is by far the more important new feature. Tell your callers that when muted they can now press *8 (as in *T for Talk) on their phones to request to talk. Very handy! When you notice phone-only users requesting this, please acknowledge it verbally as our system does not provide any other audio feedback.

I was just going to post about that. I’ll probably just show up as a guest though, rather than my username.
Are Will and I not eligiable for the prizes? Becuase my TGMP movie will rock
No, you’re not eligible. That wouldn’t really be fair. But feel free to share your ideas on the show anyway.
1am on a monday morning… Hmmm am i crazy enough :/…i think so.
I’m starting a money pool as to who will most likely cry during the final episode: Sott or Ben
My money is on Sott, but there is a distinct possibility that Scott will cry as well. ;)
Hi, this is my very first comment ever on this site in all it’s incarnations. i’ve listened since around episode 19 I think. Today just I had some time and decided to check out the site cause I wanted to know what happened to true believers. Anyway i saw the 100 show post here and decided to read.
I don’t understand, why is this your last episode I don’t remember hearing anything about this? is there a post or article somewhere that explains this cause I’d like to know.
Thanks guys for years of a great show.
We explain everything near the tail end of Episode 97 and again in Episode 98. We’re not quitting podcasting per say, just simplifying.
I’ll be on a plane back from SF :(. If I right an e-mail would you guys read that on the show?
Absolutely. And that goes for anyone who can’t participate. If you want to write an email, we will definitely read it during the episode. Just make sure it says “Episode 100 Question” or something to that effect in the subject line.
However, emails will not be considered for the If We Ran Hollywood contest.
oh, have I got a plot and cast for the contest! Lets just say, it’s pretty good (like you know that film Superman Returns you all love so much? It’s better than that).
wow I spelled “write” “right”. Epic Fail….
I might have to cancel my hot date Sunday to participate, but sacrifices have to be made.
I mean I’ll just DVR the Desperate Housewives finale. :( :)
Can’t wait, and I do look forward to what you guys do next.
Today’s the day folks!
I better hear from all of you tonight, and for those of you who can’t make it, we better get some questions emailed to us! (Please…?)
I sent in a few questions and a plot outline for the two geeks movie. Not as many questions as I would have for a GbN panel but some nevertheless.
