Opportunity Knocks
Tuesday, September 9th, 2008
On Sunday, September 14th, I will be leaving the Bluegrass state and heading out for San Diego California. My wife and I are following her family out there to pursue her dad’s film career.
It’s been a really hard decision to make, to stay or go. When it comes down to it, We have a great opportunity to get into some part of the industry we love so much. I may even try to work for Sony in a paid internship position for a few months. We’re not sure exactly how everything is going to turn out and we may even have to come back home after a few months. Either way, it took about 6 months to make a final descion to take the plunge.
This does make some things a little difficult for us. Randy and I are going to be 2200 miles away from each other. This doesn’t mean that the podcasts will stop, however. We’re going to be recording still, but the format may change a little bit. We’ll let you all know the details as we figure them out ourselvs. One thing is for sure, look forward to many more shows with Randy and myself.
I have acquired most of our old equipment and will be taking it with me so whatever we do record, it will sound good and not like it was done over the internet. So for all who are curious, I’ll set it up and record my experience once I get out there. I gotta do a test recording right? Don’t worry, I’ll be taking plenty of pictures so there will be lots of things to see!

Well then, good luck to you and your family.
I wish you the best of luck then. Is your wife’s father an actor?
Good luck to you! I’ve visited San Diego before, and it seemed like a pretty nice place. The weather is gorgeous there, but you probably won’t be having any snowball fights anytime soon. ;)
GEEKSHOW IS BREAKING UP!! THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT IS OVER!!! GAAAAHHH!!! *sobs*
Wayne,
Best of luck to you and your family. You’ve got to do what’s best for you guys and the best way to go is always with no regrets! Do your best and you know we’ll all be pulling for you!
Hey Wayne,
Congrats and good luck with everything. Hope all goes well for you and the family.
Wayne,
I wish nothing but the best for you and your family in this endeavor.
*tips glass to you*
Sounds very exciting. Everything I’ve heard about San Diego is that it’s really beautiful.
And just a few miles from Tiajuana!
Buena suerte
All the best, sir. Enjoy the constant 85 degree sunshine.
good luck!!!
Best of success going forward! Cali will be an adventure! But I sure hope you find a way to keep doing shows with Randy! GeekiNtertainment breaking up would be as sad a day as that day the Beatles broke up…
By the way, how is Randy doing?
I think it’s a great opportunity!! We will miss you.
Wait…We already do!!
Hope Randy’s doing okay…update please.
1st Ben & Scott, now Randy & Wayne…what is going on??!!
Randy is doing fine. We had our farewell dinner last night and played some Rock Band before leaving. We are still going to record even though we’ll be 1200 miles away.
The temp out there is actually around 70-78 year round, so it’s gonna be awesome. If anyone wants to know what the are I’ll be living in is like, watch Veronica Mars. Her appt is laid out the same as my condo, complete with the pool in the middle of the building. Also, the show was shot almost entirely in San Diego. The bridge that Mrs. Echols jumped off of is like 10 blocks from me. Season 3 was shot at UC San Diego and Balboa Park, which is beautiful and very close to me. Geez, I wish I was out there already.
That’s good to hear. I’m glad he is doing well.
That’s awesome to hear for both you and Randy, Wayne.
Never been to San Diego, but my friend is from there and says the one suck part is that you have to be careful if you go out on Friday nights (not that you’ll be doing THAT when the little one comes) because that’s when all the military types get paid and they swarm all the bars and restaurants and generally cause a muck.
But other than that I hear it’s awesome. :P
