Critical Mass (Part 2 of 2)
Hey Geeks, Scott here.
The second half of my latest appearance on Couch Surfing is now available from John Pavlich’s Sofa Dogs site here: Check it out!
Sofa Dogs Podcast #168 – Couch Surfing Episode 33b – Critical Mass (Part 2 of 2)
The conclusion to this episode leaves brevity behind, as John and Scott talk at length about indie films, british television and superhero icons.
00:02:10 – Scott tried to watch New York, I Love You. He made it about halfway through. It was apparently that bad.
00:20:53 – Scott highly recommends the UK television series Skins, but only after the dreadful first episode.
00:30:04 – John took Scott’s advice and watched the pilot for Life Unexpected. He loved the show and the characters, but decided to stop there, opting to quit while ahead.
01:01:50 – John and Scott share their thoughts on the 2-hour Smallville event, Absolute Justice as well as the show in general.
01:28:43 – Scott closes out the show with hopes that in the final season, Clark Kent will become Superman on Smallville.
The following artists can be heard in this episode:
Kevin Smith, Moby & Debbie Harry, Geographer, Adam Merrin, The Dollyrots, The Chemical Brothers, Lovedrug, They Eat Their Own, Echobelly, Josh Kramon, Bowling For Soup, Death Cab For Cutie, Electric President, The All-American Rejects, Cocteau Twins, John Ottman, Mark Snow, The Notwist, Stars, Smashing Pumpkins and The Crystal Method.

I believe the subtitles for the streaming Let the Right One In are the good subs. I’ve seen comparisons (with one scene) and the good sub example matched the streaming (which I watched).
Watch it, it’s excellent.
Ha, been going through and Anglophile phase myself. I have Skins on my Queue, but I need to finish The IT Crowd and Coupling first, oh and Jekyll.
Just finished The Inbetweeners, pretty funny. And Misfits was great, can’t wait till Season (um, Series) 2. I think they’re filming now?
Ugh, CW and CBS online is horrible. Why doesn’t everyone just copy Hulu’s format?
Yeah, since recording this episode I’ve done some research myself and figured out they were in fact the good subtitles. So I’ve now watched and enjoyed it.
I hadn’t heard of The Inbetweeners or Misfits, but I’ll now be checking out both thanks to your recommendation.
The Inbetweeners is pretty good, I wasn’t big on the Misfits. Skins is good for the first two series, but the new characters that are introduced series 3 and 4 are so unspeakably dull and annoying that the show goes completely down hill. If you haven’t seen it yet, the best British show at the moment is easily Peep Show, it is possibly one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, I highly recommend it.
Glad you liked Let The Right One In, I’m oddly interested in the remake, but scared at the same time.
I’ve heard great things about Peep Show.
I disagree though, Misfits is much better than the Inbetweeners, but I do like the latter (sometimes I think it tries to hard to be shocking or something).
For me I like the Inbetweeners beocouse it was me and my friends in High School .
I can understand that, and definitely relate to the characters in The Inbetweeners more, but I just think Misfits is better written and made.
and more interesting.
I dunno, it’s never grabbed me, I just didn’t like the characters. I tried to sit through the first series of The Inbetweeners and I hated it, I thought that it was trying too hard but then my friend got a role in series 2 and I thought, well I’ve got to watch it now, and I started to like it. Peep Show is like the adult version of The Inbetweeners, I can’t think of a bad thing about Peep Show.
Another good show for anyone who hasn’t seen it is The Thick of It, if you’ve seen In The Loop and dug the humour in that, definitely check out The Thick of It.
Cool, will have to check out The Thick of It then, because I really liked The Loop.
BTW, a question Jack (or any Brit reading this), if you have seen (or remember anything about) Misfits, what the hell accent does Kelly (the chav) have? It’s so strange.
we are always looking for those big waves where we can enjoy Surfing, afterall, Surfing is all about the big waves.;*
