Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Movie?
Neil Patrick Harris was recently interviewed by MTV and dropped some info on the sequel to 2008’s internet sensation Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. According to the star of the Joss Whedon masterminded webseries, the sequel (which was announced last year) could be a full length feature film to be released in theaters, rather than online.
Because it will be released to a wider audience, its been said that the film will somehow not rely on the original webseries. But what does that mean exactly? While you would just assume that the film would continue with Doctor Horrible’s recent induction into the Evil League of Evil, without making much of a reference to Penny or the story of the original; its been widely speculated that they may actually remake the webseries as either the first act of the film (via Evil Dead 2) or bulletpoints within flashback sequences (which I would prefer).
The question of budget is also raised. NPH stated that giving Doctor Horrible a studio backed $80 million budget would kind of defeat the purpose of the whole thing, so would it be independently financed by Whedon? I think a self-financed theatrical sequel could be a perfect fit with Paramount’s new microbudget program.

Y The Last Man Vol. 5In this final Deluxe Edition hardcover collecting Y #49-60, Yorick and Agent 355 prepare for their ultimate quest to reunite the last man with his lost love, while the person, people or thing behind the disaster that wiped out half of humanity is revealed. Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.
I really feel like the success or failure of this thing would depend on the strength of the musical numbers. Dr. Horrible was fantastic, but the music really tied it all together as a really special way of telling this particular story. I hope Joss spends a lot of time and focus on just that aspect of this sequel.
I agree. The clever songs were a big part of what made Dr Horrible special. I’m still not convinced that I really want to see a sequel of any kind, let alone a full length movie.
