MacGeek – Marvel to release ‘Motion Comics’ on iTunes
Wednesday, February 11th, 2009
I was completely UNenthused until I saw the video…after the break.
Marvel announced at Comic Con that it would be releasing a ‘new’ medium – Motion Comics.
DC has already done this with Batman and Watchmen.
AppleInsider reports, “The series will launch with two titles from some of the art form’s biggest names. Astonishing X-Men will debut from Joss Whedon and John Cassaday, while Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev will weave readers into the new story of Spider-Woman.”
From the preview, the Marvel approach looks promising.

Then, Yorick Brown's long journey through an Earth populated only by women comes to its dramatic, unexpected conclusion.
wow… I’m interested
That. Looked. (Surprisingly) Awesome! I’m really impressed. I will definitely be getting Astonishing X-Men when it comes out.
best birthday gift ever
That looks to be much more sophisticated than the Watchmen motion comic was. They even added lip synch animation. It could end up being pretty cool.
And different voices for each character is probably the best upgrade from any of the other ones I’ve seen. That little thing makes such a huge difference.
Will it be free to download?
I don’t know. It didn’t say. But oddly enough, one of the possible venues mentioned was YouTube, so…
So I can understand the decision to do Astonishing X-Men, but Spider-Woman seems like a weird choice. I mean I am going to be reading that series, but for most outsiders I would think her character is pretty unknown.
Anticipation for Iron Man 2, maybe? It is a weird choice. Maybe they are hoping to draw in new fans.
Iron Man 2?
Am I the only one that smiled when it said “From the Minds of Joss Whedon”? I figured they were finally giving him the credit he deserved for being such a great writer. But then they had to stick in another name. :P
Yes… Whedon never gets any credit…
awkward
I’d be interested in Spider-Woman if it was the Ultimate version, seeing as she is a female peter parker clone.
