TrailerGEEK is back again with six new trailers.
Iron Man 2 – Theatrical Trailer
With the world now aware of his dual life as the armored superhero Iron Man, billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) faces pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military. Unwilling to let go of his invention, Stark, along with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, must forge new alliances — and confront powerful enemies.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time – Theatrical Trailer
From the team that brought the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy to the big screen, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films present Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, an epic action-adventure set in the mystical lands of Persia. A rogue prince reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.
The Runaways – Theatrical Trailer
The film follows two friends, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself—and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten. Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film chronicles Joan and Cherie’s tumultuous relationship on and off stage, as the band starts to break out.
Robin Hood – Theatrical Trailer
Oscar winner Russel Crowe stars as the legendary figure known by generations as Robin Hood whose exploits have endured in popular mythology and ignited the imagination of those who share his spirit of adventure and righteousness. In 13th century England, Robin and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. My thoughts:
Iron Man 2 – Now this is how you do a trailer. I wasn’t really a fan of the first trailer for this movie, it started out strong and then had that bizarre mood change half-way through that caused it to almost feel like another movie entirely… But this trailer was greatness and has made me instantly psyched for the movie. Plus, suitcase suit? AWESOME!
Prince of Persia – I really have no idea how to feel about this. I think best I’m hoping for is something between the Pirates movies and the Mummy movies. I think it could be fun, and has the potential to be the most successful video game adaptation so far… but I just can’t tell if it’ll really be “good” or not.
Robin Hood – I had completely written this film off based on the previous trailers. Whoever the editor of those were should be fired. This was a vastly superior trailer. It doesn’t take much for me to be interested in Robin Hood as I love the character, but those other trailers were awful. Now, I’m kind of looking forward to it.
The Runaways – I’m a sucker for music biopics. This is no different. Looks like a couple of great performances from Fanning and Stewart (as opposed to the last trailer on the list…) and I’m looking forward to seeing it.
TRON: Legacy – I haven’t seen the original and I refuse to watch this trailer until I have. Its on my netflix queue, so I’ll be watching it soon enough :)
Eclipse – You all know my thoughts on these movies. The only reason I was interested in seeing this trailer was because of the odd choice in director (David Slade, 30 Days of Night). Low and behold, this seems to be the best LOOKING Twilight film by a mile. The performances still look dreadful and the script is probably laughably bad. Also, the “until your heart stops beating” as a creepy line… Who says that to someone? Was that supposed to make her feel better? Terrible writing!
Yeah….the new Tron trailer makes the original movie look even more dated than it already did on its own. I really like Tron, but it certainly isn’t flawless. I mostly liked it as a kid because of how it looked. Maybe I should rewatch it before the new movie comes out.
Iron Man 2 – Pure awesomeness with a side of kick ass thrown in. I can’t wait to see more of Tony Stark and friends. “I want one”, indeed!
Prince of Persia – It’s to bad that this seems to take so little from even the game’s original concept. It is also too bad that Jake Gyllenhaal was cast in the lead as he just doesn’t fit the part at all. However, maybe the movie will make the best of what it’s got and still be fun. I’m keeping my fingers loosely crossed, but I won’t be surprised if it really sucks.
Robin Hood – I was absolutely going to see this as soon as I heard it was being made by Ridley Scott. He is hands down one of my favorite directors, especially visually. His films always look awesome. Kingdom of Heaven is vastly underrated thanks to the mangled theatrical release, and I think it is actually one of his best films. Add in that Russel Crowe is in the movie, and my ticket was sold. This trailer just proves that I was right in anticipating this movie.
The Runaways – This movie looks pretty good, but I probably won’t see it in theaters.
TRON: Legacy – I am officially hyped. The art design of TRON was always kind of neat, but it looks about a billion times cooler using today’s FX technology to create it. I think that this is what the creators of the original saw in their heads, but it wasn’t possible to get it onto theater screens until now. Very cool.
Eclipse – ZZzzzzzz…..not even going to bother watching the trailer as I havne’t seen any Twilight movie to this point.
Sometimes I wish we could edit our comments for typos and grammar.
As a guy who has way too many typo’s grammer and spelling mistakes I feel you’re pain.
Dang you, Scott.!! I see your post about a “Runaways” trailer and suddenly I’m hoping to see Molly and Karolina in action, but it’s just a music biopic. (kinda obscure joke, I know.)
Iron Man trailer is epic!!! I want to see this right now…tonight! I am worrying that they are giving away a LOT of the story here, but this new trailer is well crafted to up the adrenaline. BTW…red and silver suit looks badass!! And at some point in this movie, Scarlet Johanson takes out a dude with his head between her thighs……hmmm.
Tron Legacy…..here’s what I meant about Iron Man 2. This preview knocked the wind out of me. Fan-tastic! But there is so much of the story that we don’t know. It just showed us the visuals and the basic premise and I am SO hooked for this movie. To be honest, I don’t want a 2nd trailer that tells us every story point….but there probably will be.
Good luck with the original, Scott. It’s an absolute classic, but it really shows its age badly. I have such nostalgia for it, but I hardly recommend it to people unless they are true Geeks. You should enjoy it…haha
Iron man: This trailer didnt really add or take anything for me apart from the suit-suit, wich was cool. Im pumped but no more or less than I already was.
Prince of Persia : I only played about 1/2 of the game before I lost intrest. Yhis nlooks ok, Probly rent it eventually. I agree with the Pirates/Mummy concept.
Robin Hood: Looks ok, I had kind of gone off Russel Crow as an actor but he looks pretty good in this. I will probly be talked into seeing this in the movies by a friend, and after this I probly wont fight going and will give it a chance.
The Runaways: As sad as I am this isnt the comic, I too love music biopics, I probly wont see this on the big screen but I will definatly watch it.
Tron Legacy: I dont remember the first one very much, and i’ll have to rewatch it because this looks amazing.
Eclipse: I’ll be dragged to this, I wont argue, I wont enjoy it, but whatever, it wins brownie points.
Iron Man 2: Looks fun! Hope the quick turnaround doesn’t hurt the film.
Prince of Persia: Hmmm… might be a fun sword and sandals romp. Probably see it.
Robin Hood: As a massive nerd for Robin Hood I am intrigued to see an adaptation that promises to be as violent as the original ballads of Robin Hood but I still think Russel Crowe and Cate Blanchet are far too old to play the parts (and unlike Sean Connery and Audrey Hepburn in “Robin and Marian” I don’t think that is the point of the film)- this is the middle ages after all and the world was mostly populated by young people, not people in their 40’s.
*NOTE* Just saw that it was going to be PG-13- well my hope is kind of dashed.
The Runaways: I can’t see this movie as those actors might poison my love for those musicians.
Tron Legacy: They had me at Jeff Bridges… they had me at Jeff Bridges. He makes my heart go thumpy even to this day.
Eclipse: Wow, that kid playing Jacob has the acting prowess of a stone slab. I’ve already decided the only Twilight movie I will ever see in the theaters is Breaking Dawn: just because I need to see how they make that disgustingly bloody and traumatic dreck into a film for preteens!
