To be perfectly honest, I think he had a sad life/childhood. I believe he was a child at heart and people took advantage. He was such a recluse and so odd that it wasn't difficult for many to believe he did those terrible things.

This took a toll on his health both mentally and physically. In turn, his music suffered.

I will remember the good times and the even better music.

Anyway... I know that one would not normally think of someone like me (with a giant Ramones poster on my wall and one of my favorite movies Sid and Nancy: Love Kills) as one of his "fans" but that was the thing:

EVERYONE was a fan when I was a kid. I remember watching Moonwalker with my best friend when we were about 5. He was Michael, his music transcended whatever genre you were normally into. He transcended neighborhood, class, race, EVERYTHING. I don't know anyone who didn't own a copy of Thriller. Hell, I remember being 6 with my family at Disneyland waiting in line for his 3-D show he had there in the late 80's/early 90's.

I won't get into my feelings on him as a person (as complicated as they are) but just for him as a musician, performer and showman I salute him.

We all know the stories about Micheal Jackson and honestly no one really knows, he was cleared of all charges so thats good enough for me. I personally think it is all bs but that just me the main thing to remember was his music no matter what anyone thinks of the man you must be insane to not even like one of his songs. Bad, thriller, earth song. . . the list goes on. He did fade away from the public but was ready for a big come back tour which I'm sure would have been absolutley fantastic to have seen. Shame we never will. Dancer, singer, entertainer, slightly weird add it all up you get Micheal Jackson. Was shocked when I first heard about it. RIPP (Rest in plastic pieces). . . sorry but I had to fit one in. ;)

What's wrong with being a detective? :p

Anyway, I am just barely old enough to remember Michael Jackson before he started getting super strange. I was never a big MJ fan though, so while his death is a little bit crazy, it's not like I will be really missing him. It's too bad that he died so suddenly.

Whatever your feelings on the man, Michael Jackson certainly influenced the music industry in a big way during his time. So in that way, I think he'll live on for a long time.
