Bond 23 Updates: New Writer….and Villain?

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

This is a compliation of two recent stories that I thought I’d compile into one about the next, still-untitled, Daniel Craig Bond film.

Peter Morgan, the writer of such fantastic films as The Queen and Frost/Nixon has joined forces with the franchise’s regular writers Robert Wade and Niel Purvisto write the screenplay for Bond 23. Morgan is the second Oscar-nominated screenwriter to do Bond duty, after Paul Haggis, who helped out with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

After Morgan signed on, rumors began circulating that his frequent collaborator Micahel Sheen has been asked to play the chief baddie in Bond 23, some even speculating that he’ll playing the revamped series’s version of Blowfeld, the evil genius who ran the orgonization SPTECTRE. Some of you may remember that at the end of the last Bond adventure, Agent 007 disovered the identity of the omnious group that had been plauging him since Casino Royale; known only as QUANTUM. Is QUANTUM this series’s eqiuvlent to SPECTRE? Will Sheen be playing a charecter called Blowfeld, or merely a proxy? Will the film let Sheen breathe, unlike what happend to the brilliant and wasted Mathieu Amalric in Quantum of Solace? Only time will tell
