Interesting to say the least. I remember for awhile Aronofsky wanted to do a Batman movie too (before Nolan got to do his) maybe he just really aches to make an action movie? Should be interesting to say the least.
What about his wrestling movie with Mickey Rourke? He’s still doing that right?
He actually has two “fighting” movies that he is working on. The first one is called “The Wrestler”, and it stars Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei. The nest one is called “The Fighter”, starring Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg. According to IMDB, The Wrestler is in post, and The Fighter is in pre-production.
I think that an Aronofsky-directed Robocop could be very interesting. I like Requiem For A Dream, and I absolutely love The Fountain. I really like Aronofsky’s direction style, and I think it will be interesting to see how he handles an action movie.
I hate Aronofsky’s style from what I’ve seen so far. I can’t stand the Fountain, at all. Definitely ranks amongst my least favorite movies of all time, and no amount of explaining or discussing will ever change that for me.
With that said, he isn’t writing RoboCop. And hopefully he realizes the type of movie he has signed up for. I’m hoping he doesn’t try bend it to his style.
It’s probably my job to defend Aronofsky but I’m going to be derelict this time. I don’ t really like him either. Requiem for a Dream is inparticular unpleasant.
I like Requiem for no other reason than he managed to get Damon Waynes to act in a non-comedy, and gave Ellen Burstyn her first meaty roll in ages. I’m iffy on Fountain because I DID like the parts that took place in the past and the now (the future stuff was just bizzare. But I need to watch the movie again. I saw it the same night that my ex dumped me so I may be colored on that movie simply because of that. I also was in an audience that just wasn’t really an “art house” audience so there’s that too.) I also liked Pi… but than I’m a graduated art school chick. I’m also not a huge Robocop fan… but I’ll watch this just because I think it’s… interesting. If nothing else.
I will now play the part of Rusty James: I’m excited about this project. I enjoyed The Fountain, for what it was and I’d much rather have someone like Aronofsky directing then some Paul W.S. Anderson, Len Weismen camera-for-hire.
